A male that was a friend but not a "Boyfriend" in the sense that most will look at the word. Snape wanted that, but Lily classed him as a friend until he called her a Mudblood. thus the reason why she was so upset that he had called her that.

Hermione I too agree, that Dumbledore planed his own death. I also believe that he had asked Severus to do the job when the time came. Severus being the honorable and loyal person he was, honored Dumbledore's wishes.

Eventhough he realised he was being used by DD, but the funny thing is, he didnt really plan is death, he sort of said,
"well i am going to die within the year anyways, might as well be on my own terms, not because I was a stupid dorkus who decided to wear a hallow that had been turned into a Horcrix and had pwerful dark curses on it that would kill me unless i have a brilliant potions master back at Hogwarts that can trap th curse in my arm"

So like I said, I dont think it was all that planned, but he still decided that he would go on his own terms and not a painfull horrible death that he would have had if he had of waited for that curse to continue through his body.

well Snape really wasnt good and he really wasnt evil. He was on Dumbledore's side, but he was also an evil git. He had the Slytherin beliefs that muggleborns were inferior and Lily even said that he called others mudblood so dont deny it! And if he was really really good he would have at least tried to looked past the ways that Harry was like James and saw the numerous ways that he was like Lily. And i know he was "acting" but couldnt he have acted without cutting off poor George's ear?
