Jo has not clarified that. Though it is quite sad that the Dumbledore family, which produced such a brilliant person has ended without a heir. Maybe it would have been better, if Dumbledore would have married and had had children.

That would have been nice Jib, but I feel he didn't feel himself worthy of that kind of love after maybe haven killed his own sister.

I think his guilt was eating him up inside.

No i think that it was just that altough he professed that love was the greatest thing on earth, Dumbledore just never found the right kind of love that he needed.

that and there was only ever one partner that was good enough for him that was on the same or similar wavelength and just a touch of haugtyness was there about DD not to let himself fall for someone that was not as clever as him, as it would have become very frustrating.

But yeah I actually think that he never found what he needed in a female.
