Alan Rickman - Severus Snape

Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was born on the 21st February, 1946 in Hammersmith, London, UK to Welsh and Irish parents. His father was a painter and decorator who sadly died when Alan was 8 years of age, leaving behind Alan, his mother, an older brother, younger sister, and a younger brother.

Alan attended the Royal College of Art, becmoing a graphic Artist. He then went on to win a scholarship for the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 1972. He won the Emile Litter Prize, the Forbes Robertson Prize, and the Bancroft Gold Medal during his time there.

Alan's career has ranged from theatre work, where has performed on Broadway, to TV work, and films. In fact, whilst he was on Broadway Joel Silver gave him the opprptunity to play villain, Hans Gruber in 'Die Hard'. This was the film that began Rick's movie making. He went on to win a 'BAFTA Best Supporting Actor' in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, to the Harry Potter films as Profesor Severus Snape the potions Master. He has also tried his hand at directing ('The Winter Guest'). It has not been confirmed as of yet, whether Alan will be reprising his role as Snape in the fifth Harry Potter movie.
