Luna Lovegood - a little loony? or?

Luna's father owns the The Quibbler, a magazine which most wizards regard as ridiculous, but Luna believes fully in what is amongst the pages. Unfortunately, Luna's mother died when she was 9 years old, by experimenting with Spells.

All this came into play when Harry needed to get to the Department of Mysteries. Luna came up with the idea of using the thestrals for the journey, plus she fought valiantly, and courageously against the many DE's. It makes you wonder if she was sorted into the right house.

Yet, after all this, comes Luna's finest hour. When Luna saw Harry on the last day of term, Harry was wrapped up in grief, due to the death of his god-father. He had tried every way possible to get in touch with Sirius, but to no avail. When he saw Luna, he was down, and depressed. However, Luna told him that she knew that one day she would see her dead mother again. For someone who believes in Blibbering Humdingers and Crumple-Horned Snorkacks, what she said to Harry, about death, brings him great comfort.

Luna has transformed over the year. She may still be a little dotty, and have her strange beliefs, but she has also shown loyalty to those who are dear to her, thus making her a part of the team, and a faithful friend, which, with the upcoming war against Voldemort, Harry will find he will need and appreciate.
